After Birmingham News reporter Connor Sheets made several attempts to track down the elusive author, he finally decided on sending her a two-page letter. It was quickly sent back to him, “wrinkled and refolded,” with a very special, clear (and seemingly lucid!) response at the bottom: “Go away! Harper Lee.” Now, that’s best kind of autograph you could ever get:
